Wouldn’t it be fun to join a club that gives you an entire period dedicated to watching movies twice a week? Well, now there is one!
With the start of the 2025–2026 school year, new clubs have been introduced at BAMS, and students have welcomed them with open arms. One club I’d like to highlight is the new Movie Critic Club.
The club was founded by Mr. Hunter, who teaches 7th grade Math and 8th grade Tech Ed. You might be wondering what this club is all about. Well, truth be told, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Mr. Hunter has his students watch movies and write reviews afterward. The goal is to teach students how to craft well-written reviews that incorporate different elements of the films they watch—like saying, “I thought the soundtrack really enhanced the most emotional scenes,” instead of simply, “That was a good movie.”
The club meets during the 7th and 8th grade Activity period on Mondays and Fridays. So far, they’ve watched Tuck Everlasting and recently finished Remember the Titans. Mr. Hunter intentionally selects a wide variety of genres to help students appreciate the different qualities of a movie beyond just their personal favorites.
