As the 2014-2015 school year comes to a close, Ms. Berliner, the first through sixth grade art teacher, along with Tyrone Area High School art teacher Eric Feather and cheer moms from both Bellwood and Tyrone are already thinking of next year’s football season. The first and most anticipated game of the year is always the Backyard Brawl, played between the two rival schools. Besides the competition on the field, the two schools will be having a competition for the best T-shirt design again this year.

Last year was the first year for the T-shirt design competition. All students in art classes were required to participate for a grade by Mrs. McNaul. Out of all the designs submitted, teachers voted and Rozalyn Yancey was the top picked design for Bellwood. Rozalyn’s design along with one from Tyrone was submitted to the Daily Herald so that anyone could vote. Tyrone’s student won the contest for the 2014 Backyard Brawl.

This year, all designs are due by Friday, April 24 and they must be turned in to the office. Ms. Berliner along with a few other teachers will be judging the drawings and picking Bellwood’s winner. The winner of the contest will receive a free Backyard Brawl shirt. All Bellwood and Tyrone students are urged to participate in this contest.
