The Blue Devil softball team won its District 6-AAA semi-final game over Hollidaysburg at Legion Park Wednesday with a final score of 10-1.
The Blue Devils move on to face Bellefonte in the District championship game at Penn State University.
Taylor Shildt was the winning pitcher with five strike out and only one walk. Shildt also had a monster day at the plate with two doubles, three runs and three RBI’s.
The girls were down 1-0 after the first inning but tied it in the third when Finn hit a double allowing Shildt to score.
“Once they got that one run it put an extra strain on us and an extra want for the win,” stated Shildt.
The girls exploded for six runs in the fourth to make the score 7-1. They then scored three more in the sixth to ice it.
“It was only the first inning but it still put pressure on us. After Jacqueline tied it we were relieved,” said third baseman Edyn Convery.
“Everyone was nervous at the beginning but after an inning or two you sort of settle in,” said Finn.
Finn had three RBI’s and two hits and Miller had 2 RBI’s. Also, Wolfe and McElwain got two hits.
“We were all nervous before the game but when we started hitting everyone just connected,” said senior Rachael Harris.
The softball team now has a record of 15-6
There are also plans to have a student bus to PSU next Wednesday so let’s get ready Blue Devil Nation and support our girls.
“For all of us, it was our goal to go to Penn State and play for a District title,” said Finn.
