Yesterday, in the first home match for the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis tennis team, the girls fell in a 4-3 loss to the Central Lady Dragons.

Unfortunately, the tennis team only has three girls this season, two of whom are from B-A. With only three players on the squad they are forced to forfeit three singles matches, and one doubles match which makes it nearly impossible to win.

Sophomore Tina Hollen swept her singles match against Central, winning in straight sets in a best two out of three match. When asked about her performance Hollen said, β€œI played really bad, but I still won so I guess it is OK.”

In the first set Tina was down 5-1 and had to rally for the win. In the second she won 6-3 for her first win of the season.

β€œIn singles I can compete for districts, and also possibly in doubles,” Tina said.

Tyrone’s Marlena Wagner also won for the co-op team, which competes again September 8 at Windber.
