Grab a cup of Joe
It’s National Coffee Day
How hard would it be you to jump-start your morning without that cup o’ Joe?
For most people, waking up in the morning is not something they enjoy, especially if waking up entails having to go to work or school. And unless you’re the most cheerful and happy person, you probably recite this on a daily basis: “Don’t talk to me. I haven’t had my coffee yet.”
Today is national coffee day, which also means FREE COFFEE! Places like Sheetz and Dunkin Donuts are giving coffee for free on National Coffee Day. Also, if you post a photo of you drinking coffee on social media with #OfficeMugShot you could win a free coffee pack from Staples.
In recent years coffee has become more of a trend than ever. Over 400 billion cups of coffee are sold annually, making it the second most used product in the US right behind oil.
Junior Jasmine McCoy shares a deep love for coffee that cannot be contained.
She stated, “I cannot function whatsoever without coffee. It’s not as much as a need but as more of an addiction but not to an unhealthy level.”
For others, that drink of coffee is a fact of life, something necessary to keep one awake.
“It is a restorative that wakes me up in the morning, but I never drink it in the evening because it keeps me awake,” said English teacher Mrs. Sue Zong, who gets up around 4 a.m. every day to travel to B-A from State College.
“I usually drink about three cups in the morning,” Mrs. Zong added.
With the help of national chains like Starbucks (and all Ugg boot wearing white girls), flavors like pumpkin spice have dominated all other coffee flavors.
However, it is only a seasonal treat so make sure to get one before they’re gone!
“If I could rate my love for coffee, it would have to be on a strictly necessary basis instead of a basic teenage girl thing. I am not a picky person and love all types of coffee,” continued McCoy.
So grab yourself a good ole cup of Joe or be your basic self and enjoy National Coffee Day!
