Athlete of the Week: Jarrett Taneyhill

Junior Jarrett Taneyhill didn’t begin the season as B-A’s starter at quarterback, but circumstances put him there. When the Blue Devil offense sputtered in Week 2, changes had to be made.

So, starter Jake Burch was moved to running back, receiver, and whatever else B-A needs.

And Taneyhill took over under center.  And he hasn’t disappointed. He’s completed 48 of 79 passes for 706 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He threw for 139 yards last week in a win over Moshannon Valley, and he is this week’s BluePrint athlete of the week.

Blueprint: How did you get involved with football?

Taneyhill: Playing with my dad in the back yard and then playing for North Side when I was 7.

Blueprint: What position do you play?

Taneyhill: Quarterback and Free Safety.

Blueprint: After this season how do you think the team will do without the seniors?

Taneyhill: I think the team will be alright. It will be sad to see them go and it will be hard to replace them but, I think that we will have enough talent for people to step up and try to fill their roles.

Blueprint: Do you prefer basketball or football?

Taneyhill: I like basketball better but football is still a great sport.

Blueprint: What advice do you have for younger players?

Taneyhill: I would tell the younger players to always work hard and have fun while they play.

Blueprint: Do you plan on playing football in college?

Taneyhill: Playing any college sport would be awesome but I’m not sure if I will yet.
