Brendan Kowalski kicks off for the Blue Devils

After battling past the Everett Warriors 21-12 in an ICC Gold Division matchup, the Blue Devils will need to come in focused as they try to defeat the Southern Huntingdon Rockets. Bellwood-Antis will be coming in with momentum this week after capturing Coach John Hayes his 300th win.

Bellwood-Antis, who leads the conference with a 3-0 record, will get all they can handle from Southern Huntingdon, which is 2-1 in the conference.

The Rockets, which finished the season with a 5-6 record last year, have come out strong this year with a record of 5-1 overall. Led by brother duo Nick Carowick and Tyler Carowick, Southern has combined for 1,264 rushing yards this season. The brothers, who are both seniors, lead the team with number of carries and rushing yards. If the Blue Devils want to defeat the Rockets they’re going to need to find a way to contain the Carowick brothers.

They will try with the help of junior defensive tackle Austin Desch and senior linebacker  Jacob McCaulley. Desch and McCaulley have combined for 67 solo tackles, making them the key defensive players for the Blue Devils. The two will need to have another big week against the Rockets in order to get the win.

On the offensive side of the ball the Blue Devils are led by quarterback turned tailback Jake Burch, who has been almost unstoppable up to this point. Burch has 19 receptions for 286 yards and 81 carries for 426 yards this season making him the go-to offensive player. Burch has been a scoring machine since he was moved to tailback scoring 13 of the teams 21 touchdowns.  He will need to come out and have another multiple touchdown game for the Blue Devils to come out victorious.

This will be one of the toughest games for Blue Devils up to this point in the season. They will need to be working on all cylinders in order to get the win.
