The Bellwood-Antis football team will be looking to bounce back this Friday night after suffering a 41-20 loss to Northern Bedford last week.

The Blue Devils will be traveling to Glendale where they will take on the 1-7 Vikings.

The Blue Devils offense, which was on a roll up until last week, will be up against a Viking defense that has struggled up to this point, allowing more than 36 points per game. The Glendale defense has only two sacks and has caused only two fumbles this season.  One the other hand the Blue Devil defense has six sacks and has caused five fumbles.

Jake Burch, who has more than 1,000 total yards this season passing, rushing and receiving, should have a field day against the Vikings.

This week the Bellwood defense will need to focus on tackling and strong defensive line play in order to minimize Glendale’s first downs. The past few weeks the defensive line has struggled with making tackles causing the secondary to do most of the work.  Although the secondary has been making the tackles, that’s not before the opposing team gains the necessary yards to move the chains.

On both offense and defense the Blue Devils will be missing one of their key players. Junior Ethan McGee will be out this week with a high ankle sprain from last week.  On the defensive side of the ball McGee has accounted for 26 of the Blue Devil’s tackles and has intercepted the opposing team three times.  On the offensive side of the ball McGee accounts for 13 receptions for 209 yards.

This week the offense will need to block so that quarterback Jarrett Taneyhill has time to make passes. Last week Taneyhill didn’t have the time necessary to make some of his passes allowing him only to complete 11 of 20 attempts.

The Blue Devils should be able to defeat the Vikings as long as they play their game.
