This week the halls in Bellwood-Antis High School will be a bit more noisy as the BA Music Department hosts the annual Blair County SH Chorus Festival.

B-A is welcoming approximately 140 students from Altoona, Tyrone, Claysburg, Williamsburg, Spring-Cove Central, Tussey Mountain, Northern Bedford, Bishop Guilfoyle, and Bellwood-Antis.

According to Mrs. Hull, the challenges of hosting County Chorus include, “Man details, making sure that everybody is comfortable, happy, and able to have a good experience.”

The students practiced all day Monday and Tuesday during school and will put on a performance at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in the Richard Bower Auidtorium.  The festival director will be Dr. Mark Boyle, Director of Choral Studies at Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA.

The following Bellwood-Antis students will be performing Tuesday Night.

Sopranos: Amanda Albright, Autumn Pardoe, Emily Hoover, Grace Misera, Michaela Miller, Sarah VanKirk

Altos: Kiara Wolfe, Taylor Shildt, Dejah Rhodes, Kyra Woomer

Tenors: Devin Burr, Michael Yohn

Basses: Ben Emeigh, Brandon Bickle, Noah Schratzmeier, Cameron Nagle, Devon Zheng, Jeremy Morrissey

Mrs. Hull explained how big of an accomplishment it is to make County Chorus.

“It’s a huge accomplishment!” Mrs. Hull said. “Not only because we have to choose the students that’ll be great hosts, good role models for the guest vocalists, but also we need to have students that are going to learn from it and take forward to the next choral years a lot of the benefits they get from the concert.”

According to Devin Burr and Michael Yohn, the best part about County Chorus is meeting new people and having fun with the director.
