Senior Amanda Albright has been selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Education Association All-State Chorus Festival and Concert at Harrisburg/Hershey, achieving second chair in the Soprano 1 section.

The region three festival was held Wednesday at Altoona Area High School, where B-A auditioned with schools from Blair and Cambria county and stretched out to schools as far as Mifflin County and State College.

Amanda has been working towards being selected to All-State Chorus since being a sophomore, and she feels honored to be able to sing with one of the best choirs in the state.

This has been a goal of mine since my sophomore year

“I feel pretty excited to be selected to All-State. This has been a goal of mine since my sophomore year and it feels great to accomplish this goal,” she said. “I am looking forward to being able to perform with one of the best choirs in the state.”

Amanda is the first student from Bellwood-Antis since 2012 to achieve all-state honors. That year, Clair D’Armit and Samuel Mills were selected for their outstanding singing ability.

Senior Michael Yohn is also taking part in Region 3 chorus. However, he was not selected to compete with Amanda at the All-State Chorus Festival March 30-April 2.

The Region 3 concert will run Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at the Altoona Area High School auditorium.
