Don’t be a fool on April Fool’s Day
Jestelynn Heaton shows her friend Cassidy Shawley the true meaning of April Fools Day.
April showers bring May flowers but as we all know April also brings out the pranksters in all of us. Whether it is a simple note saying “Kick me!” on someone’s back or an over the top, elaborate plan that probably took you a week to plan and a full day to set up, April Fool’s Day is a day that many people celebrate as a way to enjoy the humor that comes when pranking people.
April Fool’s Day originates from the Roman festival of Hilaria, the Holi festival of India, and the Medieval Feast of Fools. Other sources advocate that April Fools’ began because those who commemorated on January 1st mocked those who observed on other dates.
Who doesn’t like watching a cartoon and someone slips on a banana peel? Laughter is essential to surviving in this cruel world and what a better day to lol or rotfl then on April Fool’s Day!?
Celebrate with a little scare here or there but, in the words of Mr. Partner, “be smart, be safe, and make good choices.”
