The Bellwood-Antis baseball team had another big game on Friday to make the 3-0 on the week and 9-6 overall.

The Blue Devils won 6-1 as Nevin Wood pitched a complete game, only giving up two hits.

B-A took an early lead late in the second inning when Jack Showalter was batted in on a single by Jordan McCracken.  Both teams went three up and three down in the first inning.

B-A wasn’t able to keep the lead in the third inning as Northern Bedford got in to scoring position and then made it across home on one of their only hits of the game.

The game remained tied up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Bellwood pulled away. B-A made it across home five times in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-1.

Jack Showalter said, “Coach told us it was time to back up Nevin in the bottom of the sixth and we stepped up, hit the ball, and got the win.”

The Blue Devils then held the Panthers in the top of the seventh to get the win and in turn get one step closer to District 6 playoffs.

Jack Showalter led the team with two hits and an RBI while Trent Walker followed behind with a double and two RBI’s. Brendan Kowalski, Chris Wertman, Jordan McCracken, Nevin Wood, and Sawyer Kline each had a hit in the victory.

The Blue Devils Next game is Tuesday May 3, when the host Williamsburg on senior night.
