A modest proposal for preventing teen pregnancy

For preventing the teenagers of America from becoming mothers and fathers prematurely, and for the sake of the children born into these unstable families.

There are many hot-button issues that plague America today.  However, one problem effects America’s very own children.  That issue is teen pregnancy.  It is embarrassing to live in a country with such devastating statistics surrounding teen pregnancies.  Not only are the teenagers themselves affected, but the innocent children that are born into families that have no means to care for them are also heavily affected.  I think it can be agreed that nothing surrounding this issue is a good thing and that something should be done to remediate the youth of America.

The only possible way to rid the country of this problem is to create a complete separation of genders from a very young age.  From the moment of birth, girls and boys will never interact with the opposite gender.  In the hospital, there will be a separate wing for girl babies and another wing for the boy babies.  Furthermore, girls will only be cared for by their mothers and boys will only be cared for by the fathers.    All schools, starting in preschool, will be separated so that one school is for boys and one is for girls.  This schooling system will continue all the way through high school and even into college.  Nobody will ever be aware of the opposite gender, until they are financially and otherwise ready to have children.  This is the only way to prevent teenagers from becoming pregnant, never letting them know that the other gender exists.

I do not want to hear that our schools need to improve their health and sex education classes.  This will not be effective.  Neither will introducing contraceptives in schools.  Trying to provide programs for teen mothers to be able to raise their children better is a pipe dream.  So long as teenagers are aware of the opposite gender, this will be a problem in America.
