ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Brendan Kowalski
Senior receiver exploded for big yards against Everett
Last Friday at Memorial Field, senior, Brendan Kowalski caught three passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-7 victory over the Everett Warriors.
For his efforts, Brendan has been chosen as this week’s athlete of the week.
He has been playing for five years and enjoys the sport.
“My friends convinced me to play in 8th grade,” he said.
To better himself, Kowalski lifts weights to get stronger and condition in the off-season.
This season, Brendan has scored two touchdowns in back to back games. He has hauled in 10 passes from Jarrett Taneyhill for 289 yards.
“I think that people underestimate his speed,” Taneyhill said. “Once he gets behind the defender, they can’t recover. He makes my job easy because it’s almost impossible to overthrow him.”
When asked what his favorite thing about football is, he replied “Friday nights.”
As a personal goal, he said he would like to be the best he can be; for his team, he would like to win the ICC and then District 6.
Until last season, Brendan was known primarily as a kicker. He’s booted 45 extra points and averages 41 yards per kickoff for his career.
