On March 16, 2017, the Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils girls basketball team defeated Chartiers-Houston 80-66 in the state playoffs. A year later, to the day, B-A repeated the feat as the Lady Blue Devils won, this time in the PIAA quarter finals, 63-48 at Greater Johnstown High School on Friday.

The Lady Blue Devils outplayed the Lady Buccaneers from the get-go and before the first quarter ended it was 16-10 in favor of B-A; however B-A would have to play on without star Alli Campbell, as the sophomore committed three fouls before checking out in the first quarter.

Campbell came back to start the second, and B-A outscored Chartiers-Houston by twelve points, before she checked out early again, but these early exits never phased B-A’s attack, and by the end of the half Bellwood-Antis led by 18.

However, the game certainly didn’t end at the half. The Lady Buccaneers stormed back to outscore B-A by eight points in the third quarter and pull within 10 at 48-38. But it’s was too little too late, and B-A pulled away, carrying the fourth quarter 15-10.

Cambell led the Lady Devils with 23 points. Sakeria Haralson and Tina Hollen joined her in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The Ladies will face Blairsville in a rematch at Saint Francis University’s DeGol Arena.
