B-A Sophomores Visit BASICS Career Fair

Students Experience Brush with the “Real World”

The Bellwood-Antis sophomore class had a brush with the real world on Wednesday.

B-A 10th graders attended the Blair County Chamber of Commerce BASICS (Business and Schools in Cooperative Solutions) first ever job fair at the Blair County Convention Center.

The Career Fair provided students with the opportunity to schedule interview appointments with one of many businesses on hand and meet with them on a rotating schedule. Students were then able to ask those representatives questions about their occupations.

Tenth grade teacher Ms. Trostle said, “The Career Fair was a great opportunity for our students to learn about potential careers and career fields. There were outstanding presenters, including Mr. Steve Sheetz, that provided an introduction and welcome. The students seemed to enjoy their rotations. It was fun day!”

Sophomore Mariah Younker enjoyed the experience because of the variety it offered. “I liked being able to see so many different careers. You could go from cosmetology to FBI if you wanted to,” she said.

There were other schools besides Bellwood-Antis at the Career Fair. There were were six different schools that attended.
