HOLIDAY-ISH: National Corn Chip Day

Hannah Wicks

The Shrine in all of it’s glory.

It’s National Corn Chip Day, and I know that when I get home from school today I will definitely be celebrating.

Everytime I go to the grocery store I make sure to get myself a family sized bag of Tostitos Cantina Thin and Crispy chips, aka the best tortilla chips to ever exist. I could eat these things like a bag of potato chips or in the “normal” way with a nice heaping bowl of salsa. In fact, I do just that about 3 times a week, sometimes more.

I’ve tried just about every type of tortilla chip that you can buy in the grocery stores in the area, and nothing has ever come close to the masterpiece that is the Cantina Thin and Crispy.

It MUST be the thin and crispy kind, though. My father, who was sweet enough to go to the store to refill my corn ship stock, got me the classic kind and it just wasn’t the same. Those thick boys are hard to chew and get stuck all up in your teeth. Trust me, not fun. The thin and crispy variety are the perfect thickness and texture. THE THIN AND CRISPY ARE SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY.

My love for these beautiful chips is so strong that I feel the only appropriate way for me to celebrate National Corn Chip day is to make a Tostitos shrine. Yes, a shrine. So, excuse me while I go and do just that.

Please, do yourself a favor and experience these beauties for yourself on this very special holiday. Happy National Corn Chip Day.
