B-A girls hang on to advance to Final Four
Last Friday the Lady Blue Devils took on York Catholic in a tight matchup in the PIAA Elite Eight.
B-A came away with the win, 53-47, sending them to the PIAA Final Four for the third consecutive year.
Junior Alli Campbell led the charge for B-A with a game-high 31 points. Twelve of Alli’s points came from 3-point range as she went 4 for 10 from beyond the arc.
Campbell was hot from the start of the game while the rest of B-A’s offense was cold against York’s 3-2 zone defense, which leaves the corner three wide open. B-A’s recognized that, but their shots just weren’t falling.
The Devils were limited to only 15 points in the first quarter and 12 of them came from Alli.
Later in the game, Emilie Leidig, Riley D’Angelo and Sakeria Harlson picked it up started putting points on the board. Leidig finished with 10 with Haralson and D’Angelo combined for 12.
B-A trailed 9-6 after the first quarter but tied the game by halftime. The Lady Devils outscored the Fighting Irish 19-13 in the third quarter and never allowed them to get closer than that in the fourth.
The win puts the Lady Devils one step away from the Giant Center in Hershey.
Tonight, the girls take on Mahanoy Area High School in the Final Four of the PIAA state tournament.
If B-A wins, they advance to the State Championship again for the second time in two years.
