Baseball team opens with resounding win
March 27, 2019
Yesterday, the B-A Baseball team ended its home opener with a 14-1 win over Williamsburg.
The ’ game was supposed to be held at Williamsburg but had to be switched to B-A due to field conditions.
After the moving of fields, the Devils stepped onto their home field looking to secure the ICC win and go home without any worries and they did just that.
The Blue Devils went on a hitting frenzy, racking up four runs in the first inning, four in the third, and then closing out the game in the fourth inning with 6 runs to get the 10-run rule shortened victory.
B-A pounded out 14 total hits, with Travis Luensmann, Trentin Whaley, and Nick Plank each getting multiple hits.
The Pirates had a total of seven errors in just five innings.
Head Coach Steve Conlon said, “I was pleased with it being the first game. We had some timely hitting and took advantage of some mistakes Williamsburg made.”
Luensmann started on the mound but was kept on pitch count due to it being so early in the season. He struck out seven and did not allow a hit in his three innings of work. Alex Schmoke came on in the fourth and fifth to get the save.
The Devils will face West Branch at home on Thursday.
