Feature Teacher: Elementary Edition with Mrs. Bouslough

Miranda Tornatore

Mrs. Bouslough loves teaching third grade at Myers Elementary.

We had the chance to sit down with third grade Teacher Mrs. Bouslough and talk with her about what it is like to work at Myers Elementary School. Here’s what she had to share with us…

Q1: What made you want to become a teacher?

A1: I actually earned a degree in business. I didn’t really want to be a teacher until after I had kids, which inspired me to become a teacher.

Q2: When did you start teaching at Bellwood?

A2: 2005. It was funny. They had a big hiring year that year.

Q3. When you first started teaching at Bellwood, did you get to choose what grade you wanted to teach?

A3: Not when they hired me. They put me in fourth grade for three years, and then I went to first grade for an opening for two years. After that, there was an opening for third grade, and I got it.

Q4: What is your favorite subject to teach?

A4: Math and Science.

Q5: Do you ever wish you could teach in the middle school or high school, or would you rather stay in the elementary school?

A5: I’d rather stay in the elementary school because kids are happy to be here. In the middle school and high school, you get a whole different perspective of things.

Q6: What was a favorite thing you have done with your kids?

A6: Our class museums (wax), and my second favorite would probably be our empathy unit.

Q7: What is your favorite part about teaching third grade?

A7: The kids. I loves the kids and my teammates and how well we all work together.

Q8: Have you always been teaching at Bellwood, or did you teach somewhere before you came here?

A8: I taught fifth grade at Hollidaysburg before coming to Bellwood.

That’s it for this edition of Feature Teacher with Mrs Bouslough. As you can see, Mrs. Bouslough was inspired by her own children to be the amazing teacher that she is today!
