This past Friday was another blowout for the Blue Devil football team as they shutout the Glendale Vikings, 47-0. It was the second consecutive shutout for the Devils, and they are keeping their winning streak going with a record of 3-0.

40 of the 47 points for BA were scored in the first half and a touchdown from Senior halfback Arik Shildt in the fourth quarter was the ending note.

Seniors Zach Mallon, Nick Plank, Joe Dorminy, and Arik Shildt led the team to victory as they had a combined 7 touchdowns, 4 coming from Mallon. Mallon also led the rushing game with 153 yards and Plank was right behind with 104. Junior Zach Pellegrine assisted with three completed touchdowns and 63 passing yards. The team overwhelmed the Vikings, having 24 first downs as opposed to their 6.

The blue and gold are hot and are building upon their success. They have had at least 275 rushing yards each game these past three weeks, and they have outscored their past two opponents 86-0 in the first half.

Head coach Nick Lovrich is looking to hold up their success. “I am pretty happy with how we are playing right now and that is from player number 7 to 90. Our varsity has been improving every game this season as has our JV team. Our running game has been very good and that is a combination of good line play and the backs running the ball hard. We have some very physical play from both of these groups.”

He has also been impressed with the team’s defense and effort. Lovrich says: “Our defense has been good too. Our guys have been flying to the ball and making good tackles. We also track our missed tackles during the games and we were less than 10 Friday night, which is very impressive. To be a good defender you have to play with focus, intensity, and passion and that is what our guys are doing right now. Our goal each week is to play our best game of the season and I feel we have been doing that the past three weeks.

The Devils head to Williamsburg for an ICC bout this Friday to take on the blue pirates.
