Campbell back to hooping in PA
March 24, 2021
Class of 2020 alum Alli Campbell recently announced that she is transferring to play basketball at Penn State University. The one-time Notre Dame commit released a statement on Twitter saying: “It’s all good… I just took the long way home! So excited for this new opportunity at Penn State.”
Campbell signed with Notre Dame in 2020 as one of the most highly-recruited players in the country. She was a high school All-American and rated among the top 10 players in the Class of 2020.
The two-time Bellwood state champion is looking to make an impact on the PSU hardwood. As a Lady Blue devil, Campbell averaged 28.6 PPG, 4.6 APG, 8.3 RPG, 4.3 SPG, 1.5 BPG. The 2019-2020 lady devils reached the PIAA Elite 8 in the AA state playoffs, but their season was unfortunately cut short due to the COVID-19 shutdown last March. The team went 26-2 overall and 13-1 in the ICC. In her final high school game against Redbank Valley, Campbell put up a triple-double with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Before that, Campbell had led B-A to two consecutive PIAA championships.
The Lady Lions are coming off a disappointing 9-15 season. A young team, Penn State had 11 freshman and sophomores on its roster this past season.
