This year’s spring band concert will be performed outdoors at Memorial Stadium.

The Bellwood-Antis band is planning its 2021 Spring concert for Memorial Stadium.

Band director Mr. Patrick Sachse coordinated the move to an outdoor venue in order to provide access for parents and relatives while assuring safe social distancing that meets COVID-era guidelines. The concert is going to be held May 1 unless there would be rain; if that is the case they expect to delay the concert one week.

At  2 p.m. fifth through eighth grade musicians will perform some regular band songs along with the Avengers theme song, which will take 40 minutes.

At 3 p.m. fourth grade and high school students will perform. High school students will play pop rock songs from Elton John, and “Africa” by Toto.

Since the event will be held outside, anyone can go, students and adults. All parents are welcome and  will have room to spread out.

The outdoor venue also assures musicians will have room to maintain a six-foot distance, as well.

“We have been keeping students at least six feet apart when they are rehearsing unmasked (indoors). So, band has been spread across the auditorium when we rehearse,” Mr. Sachse said. “I don’t know if we could safely fit onstage with the distance requirement.”
