BAMS Athlete of the Week: Alex Schmoke
Meet our very first BAMS Athlete of the Week, Alex Schmoke. The middle school staff selected Alex because he is an amazing soccer player. In his first season on the junior high soccer team, he has scored 12 goals. The team record is currently 4-1-2.
Alex has been playing soccer for 11 years. His career started in Altoona after his brother, Ian, encouraged him to play.
When asked what he likes most about being a part of the Bellwood/Tyrone junior high soccer program, Alex said, “I like the competition. I also enjoy playing with my friends, and it’s a great exercise.”
Alex’s goals for next year are to go undefeated while is future plans are to go to college at Penn State and play soccer.
When asked about Alex, teammate Cory Johnson stated, “Alex is a very competitive teammate and always has his teammates’ backs when they need him most. He never lets his team down”. Quintin Nelson added, “Alex is a very good player and is very supportive to his teammates. He has a positive attitude on and off the field”.
