Track teams sweep at quad-meet

After an 0-2 start to their seasons, the boys and girls track teams were looking to pick up their first win in a quad meet against Southern Huntingdon, Fannett-Metal, and Everett.
Boys Track and Field
Hunter Shawley shined again at the quad-meet with another double win in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles as well as assisting the boys to wins in the 400 and 1600 relays.
The Blue Devils sprinters had several top three finishes with Sean Mallon capturing a win in the 200-meter dash and a third place finish in the 100-meter. Cooper Keen edged Mallon by a tenth of a second in the 100-meter to clinch a second place finish and took second in the 200-meter dash as well. Junior Daniel Weeden took a third place finish in the 400 to round off the place finishes for the sprinters.
The distance team took a couple place finishes with senior Caedon Poe collecting second places finishes in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs and Dallas Smithmyer taking a third place finish in the 3200 run.
Girls Track and Field
Junior Alexis Lovrich had another successful outing for the girls track team with another triple win in the 800-, 1600-, and 3200-meter runs. Both Lydia Worthing and Sophia Nelson added double wins for the ladies with wins in the high jump and pole vault and 100- and 300-meter hurdles, respectively.
Both the boys and girls teams swept yesterday to improve their record to 3-2. Their next meet is tomorrow at Southern Fulton in a triple meet against the Indians and the Juniata Valley Hornets.
