Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week was an event that took place from October 24th – October 28th. The week focused on alcohol and drug prevention. To celebrate red ribbon week, our school had a theme week. Students participated by wearing red, sports equipment, camo, and their future career uniforms.
Before coming to Bellwood our guidance counselor, Mrs. Simpson, had Red Ribbon Week at her old school and she thought it would be beneficial to bring it to Bellwood. She said, “We want students to be aware of alcohol and drug issues.” All of the themes for the week represented a drug free idea, for example, we wore sports gear to “team up against drugs”.
On Monday and Tuesday, two guest speakers talked to us about how we can work on our anxiety, depression, and the danger of drugs.
