Student council and their new advisor, Mrs. Burns, have big plans for this school year.
Mrs. Burns
We asked Mrs. Burns the following question: “What made you decide to take over the Student Council?” She replied by saying, “I really like to be creative, I like to work with kids outside of the regular classroom, and it’s a good opportunity to spend time with the kids.” The next question we asked Mrs. Burns was, “What will students do in Student Council?” She responded, “They will help get ready for the social. I also want them to help out with the Christmas movie that Dr. Wagner does yearly. I really just want them all to help out with all the school-related activities, and if some people have ideas on what to do, I will take that into consideration.”
Middle School Social
Mrs. Burns had a lot to say about the 7th and 8th grade social. She shared, “Yes, absolutely, we will definitely be hosting a social this year for our 7th and 8th graders.” She would like to specify that only 7th and 8th graders will be attending the social. She noted that even though there are 5th and 6th graders joining to help decorate and assist with other tasks for Student Council, only 7th and 8th graders will be allowed to attend. “Am I as talented as Mr. Trexler? No, but I will make it a great time for all of the kids. I will definitely need parent volunteers.”
Goals and Changes
Mrs. Burns hopes to have a great year! She wants kids in 5th and 6th grade to have an opportunity to participate, unlike the last few years when only 7th and 8th graders were representatives. Hopefully, the Student Council will have a great 2023-24 year.
