This weeks Blueprint Athlete of the Week is junior, Holden Schreier. Holden is the point guard for the boy’s basketball team, and is the only starter who isn’t a senior.
On Monday, when the boys basketball team travelled to Williamsburg, Holden put up an impressive 23 points, with 3 three pointers. This is Holden’s third time scoring 20 plus this season, and has emerged as one of the best scorers on the team.
Despite not being the biggest guy on the court, Holden makes his presence felt every time he’s out there. He leads the team with 52 rebounds and 17 steals on the season.
“I want to contribute to the team any way I can” he said.
Coming up, this Wednesday, the boys will take on the Tyrone Golden Eagles. This is a big game for Bellwood as they look to build off the momentum they have after winning in back to back games. Coming into the season the players were already looking forward to this game.
Holden said, “My goals for the team this season are to make the playoffs and beat Tyrone.”
Despite starting the season 2-9, the boys are still looking to make a run a the playoffs. With their record now up to 4-9 they need to keep building and continue to win going forward.
“We need to all work together,” Holden said. “Play good offense and defense, as well as starting games strong like we’ve done recently.”
Congratulations to Holden for being named Athlete of the Week.
