This week’s artist of the week is Hannah Rabenstein, who has done captivating work on an abstract painting project for Mrs. McNaul’s 4th period art appreciation class.
Hannah is a junior and partakes in Aevidum and art club. She also enjoys hanging out with friends as well as painting and sketching on her own time.
For her current art project, students in her class are working on abstract paintings. They have looked at different tools to paint with instead of brushes, such as textured items like combs and toothbrushes. Students have also learned about color theory, how to mix colors, and how to add tints and shades to colors. The class has been utilizing these tools to create an abstract work on a canvas.
“The painting is made up of cool tones, gold, and wood grain textures,” commented Hannah on her progress.
Hannah’s favorite aspect of making art is being able to have creative freedom.
Previously in her class, she has created a still life drawing along with a surrealism piece utilizing pen and ink.
Hannah advises other students who want to participate in art is to keep at it. “You’re chillin’ so keep going.”
After high school, Hannah plans to attend college and major in business. She also wants to continue making art as a side hobby.
Good luck Hannah!
