The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer team got its second win of the season on Thursday night and the volleyball team split a pair of games for the week as fall sports action began heating up for the Blue Devils and Lady Blue Devils.
On Thursday, the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer team scored a 2-1 victory over Central Cambria in Tyrone to even its record at 2-2.
The Golden Eagles were able to take the win thanks to goals from Titus Novak and B-A sophomore Noah Gulvas.
The victory snapped a 2-game losing streak. The soccer team will play again Saturday against Northern Cambria before traveling to Penns Valley on Tuesday.
VOLLEYBALL SPLITS
The Lady Blue Devils Volleyball team played the Central Dragons at home Tuesday night. The girls won in a sweep, with scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.
This improved B-A’s record to 2-1.
Seniors Avah Hassler and Ava Patton both had impressive performances, with Hassler having 27 assists and Patton with 10 digs and nine kills.
This win allowed B-A to bounce back after their loss against Bald Eagle last Thursday.
“After a tough loss we got back into the gym and worked hard on the skills that needed improved,” Patton said. “As a team we really had good communication and positive attitudes, and I think that’s what set us up to win the game.”
On Thursday, the girls traveled to Westmont Hilltop for their 2nd game of the week. The girls got swept, but battled hard. After losing the first set 15-25, the Lady Devils narrowly dropped the next two, losing23-25, and 25-27.
B-A is now 2-2 on the season, while Westmont Hilltop is 3-1.
The girls will head to Glendale on Monday for their next game. The game will start at 7.
