While her time at Bellwood-Antis was charming, 2007 grad Brittany Webb said she owes her career now to an Intro to Psychology class which she believes was the “pivotal point for me to go onto college.”

This specific class was a course at B-A  that helped define Webb, for it gave her an “awakening”  to her future in counseling. It was taught by Mr. Burch and she took it during her junior year. The class changed her life.

Webb, now based out of Philadelphia, is the creator of a start-up  offering psychological services, and she owes some of her success to her roots in Bellwood.

“I enjoyed striving for more; whether it was more understanding of a subject, more experience, and more balance,” Webb explained.

Nailed it! As a high school senior, Brittany Webb was already aiming at a career in psychology.

Webb did her undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, but college graduation was only the start for Webb, when she went to graduate school at Rosemont College to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. However, when looking back over her schooling and career, Webb still recalls Mr. Burch’s Intro to Psychology class as the catalyst.

“That class was stimulating and engaging,” said Webb. She continued to state that being in such a class grew her into an adjunct professor and also allowed her to teach her own Intro to Psychology class years later.

Not only did Webb adapt into the psychological environment, but she also had the opportunity and desire to become the founder of a private mental health group called Better Minds Counseling & Services. Webb’s company provides a therapeutical space for those in experience of: ADHD/neurodivergence, Anxiety, LGBTQIA+, OCD, and Trauma, with therapy and treatment designed specifically for individuals in those spaces.

The company’s website describes it this way:

(Webb) aspired to reach as many individuals as possible and create a flexible environment which just made sense to have the practice offer teletherapy (or virtual therapy) appointments instead of being confined to a brick-and-mortar office.

Webb’s company was based out of Philadelphia just a while back, but now the practice has locations all over Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Virginia.

However, Webb didn’t start her own company fresh out of graduation. She worked continuously with other communities, from residential treatment to children and families, and overlooking 100-plus mental health therapists in the health care field.

“I felt it was time to start my own thing as I found the environment I wanted to really provide …. was a missing piece,” Webb continued, “that piece being a caring and supportive environment for all!” stated Webb.

“Quality service is the top priority for me, and if my employees and therapists are not feeling supported or cared for, then they will not provide great care,” explained Webb.

Webb has taken steps to reach her goals, specifically helping others achieve their goals.  The Better Minds community repetitively grows within wellness.

To this day, Webb branches out with support in mental wellness practice while also informing others how to create a support system, not only with clients, but others outside of the practice.

Webb said that there’s never a start or an ending, it’s always in the now.

I may not have known what my next step is at a given time or when I experience that.  I know that the now is the most important part and the next step will come.”

Webb’s company Better Minds provides a lending hand to others, and that’s the definition of who Brittany Webb came to be.
