Books are a good way to entertain while educating yourself. National read a book day is the best day to read a book!
Bellwood-Antis celebrates this day with students sharing their favorite books while teachers share the importance of the holiday.
English teacher Mr. Naylor had some thoughts on the day. Mr. Naylor states “You shouldn’t need a holiday to sit down and read a good book, but there aren’t as many book-readers these days, so whatever you’ve got to do,” he said. “I know the impact reading has had on my own life, and I want other people to feel that too, so I’m in favor of anything that gets young people reading books.”
National Read a Book Day invites all of us to pick up a book and enjoy it.
Some featured books or book series popular among young people are: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Harry Potter by J.K Rowling, Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, The Outsiders by S.E Hilton, How to Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and last but not least, Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan.
As a coincidental bonus on National Read a Book day, the varsity football players headed down to Myers Elementary School to read to the students on Friday. The team is picking their favorite books to read to the students.
Everyone should have a day to enjoy reading a book, and today is that day.
