The Renaissance Club is a new club that our Middle School Guidance Counselor is starting this year. Mrs. Simpson’s inspiration for starting Renaissance Club began with the high school’s club. She loved the idea of a club that could improve the school’s culture and climate. “People should be recognized for their accomplishments, and have fun with everyone, even kids who may struggle academically.” Mrs. Simpson wants everyone to have fun being in school, and this club can open many opportunities for students.
This club is responsible for locker decorations, spirit ideas, Safe Trick or Treat, Day of Giving, and more. Renaissance Club identifies values that we respect, recognize, and reward to influence these behaviors. They then reinforce these through traditions and words while looking to build strong relationships between students, teachers, and the whole community. Students included get taken to other schools and help out there too. Not only is the club fun but it also boosts the morale of teachers.
Mrs. Simpson was a student that had troubles in middle school. ”I love to see different people and work with them.” She’s wanted to help others ever since her high school years, and we hope to encourage the same behavior throughout Bellwood.
