The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis boys soccer team took a disappointing loss Tuesday night against the Phillpsburg-Osceola Mountaineers.
Despite the loss, Bellwood-Antis sophomore Noah Gulvis managed to score early on to make it 1-0, getting the Golden Eagles in the lead. Gulvas had five goals in his last two games.
However, by half time PO led by 3-1, with Phillipsburg seniors Carson Long and Siler Dixon making up the points scored.
Bellwood Sophomore Ned Snearman scored late in the second half, putting the score at 3-2 and having the Golden Eagles one point away from getting a tie.
The soccer team currently stands at 3-4, already managing to get more wins than last year.
Lady Devils lose at Huntingdon
The volleyball team went to Huntingdon on Tuesday night, losing 3-1. This is one of the three losses B-A suffered on Tuesday. Huntingdon took the first two sets, with scores of 25-21 and 25-13. B-A then got one of their own, winning 25-23. Huntingdon finished it off, winning 25-21.
B-A’s record is now 5-3 after the loss.
Despite this tough loss, the girls are still feeling confident going into their next game at home against Hollidaysburg.
The game versus Hollidaysburg will start at 7.
Cross Country teams swept
B-A’s cross country teams fell to a pair of Laurel Highlands powers on Tuesday.
Both the Devils and Lady Devils fell to perennially superior Central Cambria and Bedford.
Blake Pennington’s 10th place overall finish was the top performance for both teams.
The boys fell to 1-4 while the girls suffered their first losses of the season.
