Game 2 of Bellwood-Antis’ 3 game football gauntlet to end the regular season is going down Friday at Memorial Stadium. The Blue Devils will look to bounce back after a tough loss last week against Bishop Guilfoyle, as they take on the Penn Cambria Panthers.
This Friday is Senior Night for B-A. Before the game, each 12 grade student on the team, in the band, and on the cheerleading squad will be recognized and congratulated.
This matchup might turn out to be the toughest of the regular season for BA. The Panthers have put up some impressive numbers this year to build a 7-0 record. Their main connection is between quarterback Brady Jones and receiver Gavin Harrold. These two have gathered a total of 483 yards in the air. Thomas Plunkett has led the team from the ground, totaling 625 rushing yards so far this season.
The Blue Devils are going into Week 8 with some familiar faces leading the way. Senior quarterback Holden Schreier (894 passing yards) has continued to remind fans that he is able to connect with Cayden Pellegrine (323 yards) and Ethan Shawley (250 yards) for passing yards. Colin Gibbons (502 rushing yards) will have a bigger spotlight on him after Bradyn Partner went down last week with an ankle injury. Partner will be sidelined at least this week.
While the loss in Week 7 was humbling, B-A is hopeful that they can pull through for a big win against a talented opponent.
“We just need to focus on the basics”, said Bellwood-Antis head coach Nick Lovrich. “We did good things against BG, we just didn’t finish. We’re going out and playing our game the way we know how this Friday.”
This game is looking to be a wild one for both sides of the field. Big plays are almost inevitable with each team having advanced offensive skill sets.
