Bellwood-Antis senior Jake Baker has the physical goods when it comes to the soccer pitch, according to his coach, Alex Bartlett.
A former league MVP, Bartlett would certainly know a thing or two about that.
But what really separates Baker from the pack are his intangibles.
“Jake’s attitude towards games and training make him a great teammate,” Coach Bartlett said. “I’m so proud of how far he has come.”
Baker is this week’s BluePrint Athlete of the Week.
Jake Baker is a senior wing for the Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis joint soccer team. Jake has been playing soccer since he was 6 six years old.
Growing up Jake also played football and basketball; however, soccer is the sport he chose to continue into his high school career. When asked about his decision to stick with soccer Jake said, “I’ve always enjoyed playing soccer and it is something that has stuck with me throughout the years.”
Bartlett said Jake has some natural athletic skills that transfer well onto the pitch.
“His speed, along with his passing ability, make him the ideal winger,” Coach Bartlett said. “Jake is a great piece to our talented team.”
The soccer team has made the District 6 3A playoffs and currently sits with a record of 8-8-1. The Eagles will face Bellefonte on Tuesday, October 22 at Bellefonte.
Jake is also on the B-A track and field team where he is a sprinter. In his free time Jake plays the piano and enjoys playing video games with friends.
