After their big first round win against Juniata last week, the sixth-seeded Bellwood-Antis volleyball team is now moving on to play third-seeded Forest Hills for their second round matchup.
B-A is heading into this game after a dominant performance against Juniata, winning in a sweep with scores of 25-10, 25-13, and 25-16. This was an expected win for the Lady Blue Devils, since B-A was placed five seeds higher than Juniata. Senior Avah Hassler had 23 assists and 14 service points, and senior Addy Turek contributed 14 kills in this win for Bellwood-Antis.
Winning this first round game was very important for Bellwood-Antis. “Winning the first round of playoffs was a huge confidence booster for our team,” senior Johanna Heckman said. “We felt more united and motivated, knowing that we have what it takes to go further.”
Forest Hills has several star players of their own. Senior Mya Colosimo is averaging 4 kills per set and 3.1 digs per set, which lead the team for the season. Colosimo also leads the team in total kills and digs, with totals of 364 kills and 283 digs. Another top performer for the Rangers is senior Julia Chunta, who has 808 assists this season.
Forest Hills had a first round bye, but they lost their final regular season game to Bald Eagle. Forest Hills had a very strong regular season, finishing with a 15-2 record.
The game will be played at Forest Hills on Tuesday. It will start 7. Tickets are $8, and must be purchased online.
