The Lady Blue Devils recently finished their 2024 season, ending with a tough loss in the second round of playoffs.
B-A had a great regular season, with a record of 13-5 before going into playoffs. There, the Lady Devils went 1-1, defeating Juniata before eventually bowing out to Forest Hills in the second round. The Lady Rangers went on the compete in the finals.
While having a successful season as a team, there were a few players that also had a lot of individual success. Seniors Addy Turek, Avah Hassler, and Ava Patton all hit large career milestones during the season. Turek achieved 500 career kills, Hassler got to 500 career assists, and Patton had 500 career digs.
Turek’s season was strong enough that she was named to the Laurel Highlands East first-team all-star squad.
There were a total of five seniors on the team this season, including Morgan Kienzle, Johanna Heckman, Avah Hassler, Ava Patton, and Addy Turek.
Despite the loss in the playoffs, the team still had an overall good season.
“I thought it was a great season to end my career with,” Turek says. “The loss at Forest Hills was very disappointing and not what we were expecting, but the games before and time spent with the girls made up for it.”
With five seniors leaving, the current juniors and underclassmen are going to have to step up next year. The seniors for next season include Lily McNelis, Alia Bennet, Riley Barnhart, and Bella Myers.
“I am very excited for next season and I think we are going to surprise a lot of people,” McNelis says.
The girls feel good about how this season went, and are confident that they will continue their success for the seasons going forward.
