Tonight, January 13th, the B-A girls basketball team will take on Tyrone for the backyard brawl. The game will be held at the Tyrone middle school gymnasium, starting at 7:30.
This game isn’t just an ordinary event. It will be played to raise money for mental health awareness. Usually the backyard brawl is used to benefit breast cancer awareness, but this year Tyrone decided to switch it up. Despite the change, the teams are still playing for the pink trophy.
All proceeds will benefit the James E Van Zandt VA Medical Center mental health programs. There will be a cash raffle for baskets that people in the crowd can win.
Players will be wearing special green and black shirts with the slogan, “It’s okay to not be okay”.
Both teams are looking to bounce back from losses, so this matchup should be an exciting one.
