It is a great honor when one is selected to be in District Band, but it’s even better for 4 musicians from Bellwood Antis.
Trinity Maines, Lyn Lambert, Anthony Berardi, and Emily Zacker have all been qualified this year for PMEA District Band, which will be held at their home school, Bellwood-Antis. Band director Mr. Patrick Sachse is the host director.
Both Berardi and Zacker qualified as percussionists, while Lambert qualified as fluts II and Maines Clarinet III.
About 145 honors band students from Bedford, Cambria, Blair, and Somerset counties will be attending with over 40 school representing in this event.
All students spent the day Thursday auditioning for PMEA regional band and preparing for the Friday concert. Students and teachers returned to B-A Friday for further preparations.
The concert will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the auditorium and is open to the public.
Dr. Ben Blasko will serve as this year’s guest conductor. Blasko is a highly decorated music educator who is currently an associate professor of music at Lipscomb University in Nashville.
Congratulations to all the students from Bellwood selected for this amazing opportunity! This festival will give each of them the chance to upgrade to Regional Band, best of luck to them!
