Oreos and milk? Or Oreos without milk?
That’s the question we ask today.
March 6 is National Oreo day, or Oreos 113th birthday!
The Oreo cookie is the best selling cookie in America with more than 20 billion sales.
An Oreo cookie is two chocolate cookies with a white cream in the middle. In 1974 the company, Mondelēz International Inc, created “Double Stuffed” Oreos to provide more cream in the middle. Then, in 2013, they made “Mega Stuffed” Oreos for all the consumers who wanted more icing.
The original Oreos were invented in 1912, while the golden Oreos were made in 2004. The original Oreo is more popular by consumers more than the golden Oreos. Another flavor, which was limited then, Mint Oreos were invented in 1985. The flavor was then a permanent flavor in 2021.
Some other popular Oreo flavors were Dark Chocolate Oreo, Birthday Cake Oreo, Fudge Covered Oreo, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Oreo, and limited edition flavors like the “Lady Gaga Oreo.”
The Lady Gaga Oreo was in honor of her album, Chromatica in 2020. Other celebrities have also had Oreos like, Post Malone of this year, Supreme in 2020, and the K-pop group Blackpink in 2022.
Besides cookies, Oreos came out with a cereal called, “Oreo’s” which tasted just like the cookie. They made “Oreo’s” in 1997, but was discontinued in 2007. Then, a few years ago in 2017, they came back in stores.
