Bellwood-Antis’ upcoming musical Shrek is becoming one of the most popular musical productions the school has ever had. Its story from the Broadway show and movie have inspired millions of people. However, due to the success of the new Snow White movie, the people running the show have decided to change it up.
Shrek, played by Jacob Caracciolo, is now going to live at the Bellwood park. His attire will be changed to include solely Bellwood-Antis merchandise. His loner personality stems from the football team’s loss in the playoffs, causing him to be isolated from the rest of the community.
Donkey, played by Christian “Chug” Jennings, will now be a former Tyrone fan. After getting kicked out of the area he was forced to go to Bellwood, where he and Shrek’s paths meet.
Lord Farquaad, played by Derek Stivers, is now the lord of Tyrone. He kicks out everyone who he deems a “Bellwood fan.” He sends them all away to the Bellwood park, and upon meeting Shrek, sends him away to rescue Fiona in order to make him king.
And lastly, Fiona, played by Gianna Juart, will be a Tyrone fan whose twist will make her more like Shrek when it’s night time. Originally Shrek wants nothing to do with her, but as the quest goes on, the two bond for their love of Bellwood-Antis football.
”I think this is going to be a great change to the play, as it brings a Bellwood twist to this classic,” said Bellwood-Antis senior Zach Gonzalez.
The musical is from March 27-29, be sure to get tickets before they’re sold out!
