Sophomore Ava Worthing is credited for her imaginative work in art class this week.
Ava is a student in Mrs. McNaul’s ceramics and painting class, which introduces students to ceramics in the first semester and the basics of painting styles in the last half.
”You work with clay projects like making a plate, then you move onto paints,” Ava said. She added that you can even paint the way a word looks.
Ceramics and painting projects are not easy. Art teacher Mrs. McNaul develops one-on-one relationships with students to understand their learning styles.
”She puts such an interesting style to her art,” Mrs. McNaul says when talking about Ava’s personal style.
Ava said that her favorite part of the class is painting how she sees things and how they compare to her classmates.
Outside of art, she involves herself in activities in and out of school, like being an athlete. She is a part of track and volleyball, but when she’s not on the field or court she’s helping in mock trial, Mini-THON, or Renaissance.
However, her athleticism doesn’t stop in school; she is a part of a travel volleyball team where she travels to different states for tournaments.
She is always trying new things and helping out. She also enjoys singing karaoke in her free time.
Ava is taking a stable approach to her future and Mrs. McNaul thinks that “she’s a student who could easily become a professional artist someday.”
