The Bellwood-Antis track teams started their season this week with their first meet on Tuesday against Bellefonte and Bald Eagle. Both the boys team and girls team lost to Bellefonte, and beat Bald Eagle. On Thursday, B-A had a home meet against Southern Huntingdon, West Branch, and Williamsburg. The Blue Devils and Lady Blue Devils had dominant performances, defeating all three schools in the meet.
For the boys, they beat Southern Huntingdon with a final score of 136-14, West Branch with a score of 144-6, and then Williamsburg, 141-9. On the girls side, they beat Southern Huntingdon 104-46, West Branch, 126-24, and Williamsburg, 133-16. This puts both teams at a 4-1 record on the season.
Sophomore Jeffrey Waite won two separate events, winning the 100m dash and triple jump. He ran a 12.1, and had a jump of 38-9.25. Junior Jayce Quick was also a double winner, winning shot put and discus. He threw a distance of 47-4 for shot, and threw 103-9 for discus. Senior Cayden Pellegrine won javelin after throwing 148-5. Freshman Owen Stoltzfus was another double winner for Bellwood-Antis. Stoltzfus won the 200m dash and high jump. In the 200, he ran a time of 24.4, and jumped a height of 5-2.
For the girls, freshman Ella Cherry won the 100m dash and the 200m dash with times of 13.3 and 27.8. Junior Chloe Stoltzfus won both hurdle events. Stoltzfus ran a 17 in the 110m hurdles, and ran a 49.8 in the 300m hurdles. The Lady Blue Devils got first in both the 400m relay and the 1600m relay. In field events, Cherry also got first place in long jump with a distance of 16-4. Sophomore Olivia Rishel jumped a height of 9-0 in pole vault to win, and junior Lilly Gerwert jumped over 4-8 in high jump to secure first place.
The Bellwood-Antis track teams are looking to carry their hot start into the next week. They will go against Hollidaysburg and Tyrone on Tuesday for another home meet. The meet will start at 3:30.
