The Blue Devil baseball team has taken its fair share of bumps and bruises throughout the course of the season, but things are starting to look up for B-A after they acquired their second win in a row Tuesday over Penns Valley.
The game was on April Fool’s Day, but B-A wasn’t joking around, capping the game off with a 12-6 win. They held Penns Valley to just one earned run all game thanks to the phenomenal pitching by sophomore Noah Gulvas.
B-A took a devastating loss last year to Penns Valley, but it’s safe to say the Blue Devils got their revenge given the result of the game. With the bats hot, the Blue Devils lifted their scoring average to 6.5 runs per game.
Gulvas was absolutely unstoppable on the mound, throwing a complete game. He would finish with a total of just 1 earned run and 4 strike outs. Both teams started off slow in the first, but bats quickly picked up in the second.
The softball team however has taken a lot more bumps and bruises this season, having lost every game heading into Tuesday’s contest at Penns Valley. The Lady Blue Devils turned things around with a 5-2 win over the Lady Rams.
Pitcher Palynn Gregg played a key part in the win, striking out 7 and only walking one.
Gregg, London McKee and Parker Martin each drove in runs for the Lady Devils, who plated two runs in both the first and fifth innings to take a5-1 lead.
B-A is now 1-4.
