B-A recognizes teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week
May 5, 2015
Go out and thank a teacher for all that they do for everyone!
National Teacher Appreciation week runs from May 4-8 2015. National Teacher Appreciation Day is May 5. During this week you should thank a teacher.
Teachers help students throughout the school year, and thanking a teacher will make them feel appreciated.
The day was conceived by Eleanor Roosevelt, who suggested a day for teachers to be appreciated in 1953. It became a national day on March 7, 1980 thanks to work from the National Parent Teacher Association.
The week coincides with the birthday of Horace Mann (May 4, 1796), who is considered the father of public education in America.
Students and parents show their appreciation to teachers by thanking them, giving them cards, and by giving gifts.
At Bellwood-Antis High School, the Library Club, National Honor Society, FFA and BluePrint all have special activities planned to show teachers how much they mean to everyone.
This is a week for teachers being recognized for their hard work and helping the students in the classes.
