Last night, our Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils traveled to rival Tyrone in a junior high matchup. Led by Shawn Wolfe, who had three touchdowns, B-A propelled past the Golden Eagles in a 26-20 victory.

“It is always great to win the little Backyard Brawl!” said Coach Burch. “I am proud of the players and their attitude and effort. It was nip-and-tuck the whole game and our defense stepped up when it had to”

Bellwood-Antis was down 14-6 at the end of the first quarter, but a six-yard rushing touchdown by Wolfe followed by a pass from Wolfe to Andrew Hale for the two-point conversation tied the game before halftime.

The Blue Devils went up by six in the third on a run by Wolfe and never looked back, even after Tyrone tied the game at 20-20.

Thanks to a two-yard rushing touchdown by Colton Gority following a turnover, B-A pulled out the win.

“It feels great to beat our biggest rivals,” said Wolfe. “And I feel our whole team stepped up. To play really well against our rivals, that just caps off a great game.”

Bellwood-Antis is now 2-0 on the season and travels to Moshannon Valley the take on the Black Knights next Thursday.
