Last night the Lady Blue Devils took on the Lady Trojans in Mount Union. B-A was sure not to look past their two-win opponent following a big win over the undefeated Tyrone on Monday.

Bellwood-Antis took care of business, more than doubling Mount Union’s score by defeating the Trojans 71-30.

B-A looked to put the pressure on Mount Union early and often and forced a plethora of turnovers. The Blue Devils full-court pressure was stout, allowing the team to ultimately force 21 turnovers.

Bellwood’s offensive was ignited from their defensive effort. B-A finished the first quarter with an 18-4 lead.

Although the Lady Devils had a comfortable lead, the team did not get complacent in the second quarter, continuing its defensive pressure and outscoring Mount Union 23-11.

The score at the half was 44-15 in favor of the Lady Blue Devils.

With a huge lead in tact Coach Jim Swaney looked to rest his starters for the majority of the second half.

No matter who was on the court for the Blue Devils the team still thrived. B-A played with the mercy rule on Mount Union for nearly the entire second half.

B-A was led by Junior Karson Swogger who finished the game with an impressive stat line that included 23 points, 8 steals, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Alanna Leidig was the only other Blue Devil to finish with double digit points as she tailed 10 points for B-A.

With the victory B-A improved its record to 8-4 on the season and Mount Union’s record fell to 2-8.

The Blue Devils look to stay hot in tomorrow’s ICC North bout as The Vikings of Glendale come to town to challenge the lady Blue Devils.
