Track teams now only one win away
Tuesday the boys and girls track teams traveled to Northern Bedford to take on Mount Union and Northern Bedford.
Both the boys and the girls teams were able to come out on top by getting 2 wins over both teams. The boys are now 7-1 on the season and the girls track team is now 7-1 on the season, and both teams are undefeated in the league. That puts the two teams on the cusp of securing an ICC championship. A win today, over once-beaten Southern Huntingdon, would all but lock it up with three meets left.
Joe Wertz took 3 1st place victories in the shot put(45’ 11’’), discus(130’ 4’’), and javelin ( 127’ 0’’). Hunter Shawley won both hurdles. running a 17.0 110m and a 43.1 300m. Sean Mallon secured a 1st place spot with a 23.9 second 200 meter dash. Kenny Robison took 1st with a 54.5 second 400m. Caden Poe with a time of 12:10.8 won the 2 mile.
In the girls meet, Anna Lovrich won the 200m dash with a time of 30.1. Sicily Yingling won the 400m dash running a 1:08.8 time. In the 800m, Lexi Lovrich took 1st running a 2:43.3 and then won the 1600m in 6:30.6. Lexi then won another event, running a 13:08.4 to win the 2 mile. Sophia Nelson took home both hurdling competitions, running an 18.5 in the 100m and a 57.5 in the 300m hurdles. The girls 1600 relay took 1st with a time of 5:31.4. The 3200 relay team took 1st, running an 11:38.2. In the jumping events Madison Otto jumped 14’ 6.5’’ to win the long jump. Lydia Worthing won the pole vault with a height of 8’ 6’’.
Another great performance by both of the teams as they continue to show their dominance in the ICC conference. The track teams will look to crown themselves today as ICC champs trying to get a win over Southern Huntington and Fannett Metal. Good Luck to both teams and go get that championship.
