Baseball team ends season with loss
The disappointing season came to a close for the Blue Devils yesterday, dropping their final game 12-11 to Tussey Mountain.
After building a comfortable lead going into the bottom of the 7th (11-7), Bellwood was not able to close the deal, giving up 5 runs to the Titans losing the game 12-11.
Jack Luensmann started the game on the mound for the Blue Devil baseball team giving up just two earned runs in his five innings of work. Jack was also able to rack up 7 strikeouts bringing his total to 27 K’s on the year.
Matt Berkowitz took over in the sixth inning, but only was able to get two outs for Bellwood, thus bringing in sophomore Chris Walls. Walls struggled to get the final out of the innings giving up three runs in the process.
Bellwood was able to get a lead in the top of the 7th scoring 4 runs, and putting the score at 11-7 in Bellwood’s favor.
The Blue Devils just couldn’t put the Titans away.
In the final inning, junior Gaven Ridgway walked 5 batters, and gave up 2 hits, allowing the Titans to push across 5 runs and win the game.
This puts an end to Bellwood baseball’s season with a final record of 5-13.
